Cross-Contamination

Get into the habit of reading food labels. Many food labels include information about possible allergens in the product.



Look for precautionary statements such as “produced on shared equipment…may contain peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, milk…”


Multiple foods can be produced on the same equipment or in the same factory, resulting in an allergen to be present. For people with severe food allergies, it takes only a tiny amount to cause a reaction.
